Doctrinal Statement
Hairy’s Dog House was founded by a family of Christians who believe in the principles of love, compassion, service, and care for others. We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and affirm the authority of the Bible as the inspired Word of God.
We believe every person is created in the image of God and is deserving of dignity, kindness, and compassion. Guided by Christ’s example of servant leadership, Hairy’s Dog House exists to bring comfort and hope to children and families facing serious illness, trauma, and prolonged medical treatment. Through Hairy, our nationally traveling therapy dog, we enter children’s hospitals, Ronald McDonald Houses, pediatric cancer organizations, and care facilities to meet children where they are, often during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Hairy’s presence offers more than a brief visit. His calm, intuitive nature helps ease fear, reduce anxiety, and create moments of joy that families frequently describe as transformative. To ensure this comfort continues beyond each visit, Hairy’s Dog House provides children with a sensory stuffed animal designed to resemble Hairy, offering emotional reassurance through sight, touch, and a built in heartbeat that promotes calm during stressful moments.
Our work is an expression of our faith in action, seeking to love others as Christ loves us and to serve without condition or expectation. Through Hairy, we are able to enter into spaces that are often secular environments marked by extreme pain, fear, and uncertainty. His presence opens hearts and allows opportunities to offer families comfort, hope, prayer, and the message of what Jesus Christ can do in their lives during their most difficult moments. We strive to faithfully share Love, Joy, and Comfort while serving with humility, compassion, and grace.
